Annual Events

This is a general description of events to be expected throughout the year at Saxon Hill School.

June

  • This year's committee assignments run from June 1 to May 30.
  • Tuition payment due.
  • SHS Summer Camps take place.

July

  • This year's board positions run from July 1 to June 30.
  • SHS Summer Camps take place.

August

  • August Full Membership meeting. (Orientation for new families held prior to main meeting. Introduction of school responsibilities and board members. Registration dates approved for following school year.)
  • Teacher home visits occur.

End August/beginning Sept.

  • Classes start!

September

  • Barn Sale weekend is typically the last weekend in Sept.

Sept./Oct.

  • Chapin Apple Orchard tours staffed by SHS.

October

  • Tuition payment due.
  • School closed for staff to attend VAEYC conference. This is usually on a Friday in late October.

November

  • First open house for prospective families for the following school year.
  • School closed for Thanksgiving Recess.

December

  • School closed for Holiday Recess.

January

  • January Full Membership meeting (Budget and tuition rates for the next school year are proposed and voted on.)
  • Tuition payment due.
  • Open house held for prospective families.
  • Registration begins in late January.

February

  • Registration finishes in early February.
  • Valentine's letter fundraiser
  • Donations solicited for Artisans' Auction
  • School closed last week of Feb. for Winter Recess.

March

  • March Full Membership Meeting. (Board elections are held and calendar for upcoming school year approved.)
  • Artisans' Auction takes place. A tremendously fun, adults-only evening!

April

  • Nonrefundable partial tuition payment due for upcoming school year.
  • Submit committee assignment forms for upcoming school year.
  • School closed for Spring Recess.

May

  • Committee assignments issued.
  • School ends.
