Cookbook

In 2006 we collected over 150 recipes from past and present Saxon Hill families to create the SHS Cookbook. You’ll love these delicious, tried and true recipes from busy families just like yours!

Contents include

  • Favorite School Snacks (such as Apple Bread, Morning Glory Muffins, Swedish Pancakes)
  • Appetizers (such as Buffalo Chicken Dip, Sun-Dried Tomato Baked Brie)
  • Soups and Salads (such as Cheese Tortellini Soup, Pumpkin Curry Soup, Mediterranean Salad)
  • Main Dishes (such as Black Bean Burritos, Glazed Grilled Salmon, Lemon-Wine Chicken Cutlets)

Sample Recipe

Saxon Hill School Pumpkin Bread

We invite you to try a sample recipe from the cookbook. SHS students enjoy eating this for snack.

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 ⅔ 2/3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. oil (can substitute ½ c. oil and ½ c. applesauce)
  • 1 (16-oz.) can pumpkin
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. baking soda

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Spread in a greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
