Our VisionSaxon Hill School aims to develop curious, capable and exploratory learners, guiding them to become caring adults who support the greater community, respect nature and develop a love of education throughout their lives.
Our MissionSaxon Hill School empowers families to be deeply involved in the educational experience of their children, fostering the sense of community among children, families and teachers. By developing both children and families, Reggio-Emilia principles are reinforced in and out of the classroom. Saxon Hill School is committed to excellence, connection and lifelong wonder through the support of highly credentialed educators, NAEYC accreditation and focused leadership.
Our PhilosophySaxon Hill School cares most that your child is successful and happy. We believe every child is eager and ready to learn at an individual level. Our Reggio Emilia inspired curriculum reflects that individuality, and offers many ways for children to challenge and extend themselves through a broad range of experiences.

Tours
Tours take about 30-40 minutes and are generally scheduled at 8:45am or 3:30pm. Visitors will view classrooms and have a chance to ask questions. Families out of state may request a FaceTime or WhatsApp tour.

National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)

NAEYC is the nation's leading professional organization working on behalf of young children. Saxon Hill School holds the highest level of recognition available through the NAEYC Early Learning Program system: Accreditation+. This distinction means that we've gone beyond the foundational quality expectations. We've shown, through both documented evidence and required on-site visits, that we're putting high-quality early learning practices into action every single day.
Achieving Accreditation+ means more than meeting the mark once; it means we are committed to sustaining quality over time. Saxon Hill School has been accredited by NAEYC since 1998. Our program will continue to participate in ongoing quality assurance activities, including random site visits and additional accountability measures, to ensure we uphold the high standards you and your children expect and deserve. |
STep Ahead Recognition System (STARS)
|
STARS is Vermont’s quality recognition system for childcare programs and preschools. The 1-5 rating system identifies programs that range from those in the early stages of self-assessment to those that display full implementation of early childhood best practices. We are proud to be a 5 STAR school and have been for many, many years.
